William (Mike) Roth Recognized as CHN's February 2023 Service Excellence Superstar


“photoCurry Health Network is delighted to announce that William (Mike) Roth, RRT was selected by a committee of his peers as its Service Excellence Superstar of the Month for February 2023 after he was nominated by his manager when he went the extra mile after agreeing to come in on his scheduled night off to ensure a smooth transfer of a patient from the emergency department in Brookings, and noticed stock of essential supplies for ventilators weren't available.

Mike is a registered respiratory therapist and has been a licensed respiratory care practitioner in Oregon since 2014. He previously worked in Medford, Bend, and Portland in addition to taking travel assignments before joining CHN in December of 2020. Mike is currently receiving education to earn certification in polysomnography (sleep study).

Sherry Dye, RRT and Respiratory Manager said that after the patient left the facility, Mike cleaned the equipment and was restocking supplies when he noticed the absence of filters needed for the ventilator, in addition to other supplies than weren't readily available.

Mike drove from Brookings to Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach at 10 p.m. to gather the supplies, and drove back to Curry Medical Center-Emergency Care in Brookings. By the time he clocked out for the night - his night off - he had worked more than 6 hours and clocked out at 12:45 a.m.

Dye said that Mike went above and beyond and believes his actions demonstrated integrity, compassion, accountability, stewardship, excellence, and teamwork.

CHN congratulates Mike, and is sincerely appreciative for his attention to detail, prioritization of quality patient care, and being selfless to ensure that his co-workers would not be left without vital, life-saving supplies. CHN is happy to have him as part of the Curry Health Network team.
