A rare body fluid specimen from a surgery required immediate testing, and the complexity of the situation posed unique challenges. With a wide variety of testing options, specimen handling protocols, and three different reference labs to choose from, Corrie's expertise and attention to detail were crucial.

Despite having already extended her shift by two hours due to staffing shortages, Corrie demonstrated an unparalleled level of dedication and professionalism. Recognizing the urgency and significance of the situation, she made the decision to drive back to the Curry General Hospital (CGH) lab instead of providing assistance over the phone.

Upon her arrival at the lab, Corrie meticulously handled the specimen, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to testing protocols. Understanding the importance of accuracy, she proactively verified the testing criteria and urgency with the provider before proceeding. This thorough approach guaranteed that the testing process met the highest standards and maintained the integrity of the specimen.

Furthermore, realizing the critical nature of the sample, Corrie took the initiative to arrange its secure transportation to the appropriate reference laboratory. By coordinating its transfer, she ensured its timely arrival and safeguarded its integrity throughout the journey.
