CHN's Service Excellence Superstar: Courtney Sherman Goes Above and Beyond for Patient Care


Curry Health Network is pleased to announce Courtney Sherman as our Service Excellence Superstar of the Month for October 2023. In a recent incident that highlights her exceptional service mindset, Courtney's proactive and compassionate approach saved a patient from an unnecessary 50-mile round-trip, showcasing the commendable standards she upholds.

Exceptional Dedication in Action:

Courtney's exemplary dedication recently came to the forefront when she was bringing a patient back to the lab to address their order. To her surprise, she discovered a handwritten note from the patient's spouse specifying additional blood work. Recognizing the absence of a crucial test on the order, Courtney instinctively went above and beyond the call of duty.

Going Above and Beyond:

The missing test required a separate paper order and a specific kit to be brought to the lab with the patient. Displaying true dedication, Courtney took the initiative to inquire further. The elderly patient mentioned he had traveled a considerable distance from Crescent City. Understanding the potential inconvenience, Courtney proactively located the ordering Provider's medical assistant.

Thorough and Considerate Approach:

In a thorough and considerate approach, Courtney verified the need for the specific kit test, obtained the necessary order signature, and ensured the kit was promptly brought to the lab. This proactive intervention not only demonstrated Courtney's attention to detail but, more importantly, ensured the patient received the crucial test required and eliminated the need for the patient to make an additional 50-mile round-trip for the necessary testing.
