About Emergency Medicine/ Emergency Physicians

Emergency physicians specialize in the care of patients with an acute medical condition that requires immediate attention. They are experts in rapidly assessing a patient's condition to determine what's wrong and what care is needed to stabilize the patient. These physicians are dedicated to tending to a patient's immediate needs, treating injuries or illnesses, and in many cases, saving the lives of patients.

Some of the many benefits emergency physicians provide include:

Fast evaluation and treatment of acute conditions
Communication to the patient and family about diagnosis and treatment
Communication with the patient's other physicians
Stabilization and monitoring of acute conditions
Expert understanding of emergency situations

Emergency medicine physicians are dedicated to providing efficient, quality care to patients who come to the emergency room. These highly trained physicians conduct an evaluation, order tests, diagnose and provide urgent treatments as needed to stabilize the patient's condition.

Our emergency physicians are usually Board certified or Board eligible in emergency medicine, internal medicine or family medicine. They are trained to understand the special needs of patients who come to the emergency department. Emergency physicians lead and direct the medical team that cares for patients in the emergency room. The team includes our Registered Nursing staff that maintain specialized certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Life Support and Trauma Nursing; and who provide valuable support and information to the emergency medicine physician who is overseeing patient care.
