The Oregon Health Authority on March 24, 2015 paved the way to an Emergency Department at Curry Medical Center in Brookings by issuing a Temporary Rule prescribing the conditions under which Curry Health Network can secure a State permit to operate a satellite Emergency Department. The Temporary Rule will remain in effect for 180 days while the State processes the enactment of a similar Permanent Rule.
Curry Health Network is immediately proceeding with plans to develop the ED. The clinic already has many of the components necessary, yet there are a number of issues to be addressed including funding, facility improvements, licensing for pharmacy and other services, and employing additional staff. We anticipate it will take approximately 5 months before the ED is operational.
